The Latin American Coalition of Environmental Educators (CLEA) is partnering with the NYU Wallerstein Collaborative to host a Symposium at NYU featuring Latinx educators, researchers, and professionals in the environmental field:
Who We Are
CLEA is a coalition of Latinx educators who want to break down the many barriers that limit access to high-quality environmental education resources and opportunities for Spanish-speaking and Latinx populations in the United States and across Latin America.
CLEA’s mission is to promote environmental education across Latin America and in the United States through an inclusive lens, pushing creative solutions to social and environmental problems while recognizing the historical, racial, and cultural complexities of the communities we serve.
Our Work
Our work revolves around the goal of integrating the perspectives, vision, and strengths of our diverse Latinx community to advocate for better environmental education efforts.
CLEA’s goals include, but are not limited to, establishing a network of Latinx educators and professionals interested in environmental conservation issues, disseminating high-quality, multilingual educational resources and materials, and creating safe spaces to foster productive conversations about environmental education through the lens of the Latinx experience.

Climate Education en Español Initiative
This initiative aims to address the inequities in climate change education by creating an online international community of educators who will access and share resources in Spanish and/or resources designed with Latinxs in mind.
This project is funded by the NYU Green Grants program. Due to changes and constraints revolving the current pandemic we are working on adapting our original proposal to safely support our efforts.
